Chatuge Regional Hospital and Nursing Home located on Main Street in downtown Hiawassee is licensed by the State of Georgia and fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital has 25 acute care beds and the nursing home can accommodate 112 residents. The hospital is also licensed for swing beds - a "nursing home" type bed in the hospital setting designed for the temporary care of a hospital patient who no longer needs acute care and is awaiting nursing home placement or convalescing prior to going home. The hospital has a three-bed Intensive Care Unit staffed by ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) trained physicians and nurses who are equipped and trained in using clot dissolving drugs for heart attack victims.

The Emergency Department at Chatuge Regional is staffed twenty-four hours a day with ACLS trained physicians and nurses. The Physician staff of the Emergency Department is provided by Physician One.

For the ever-increasing demand for outpatient services, the hospital provides specialty clinics that include Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Urology, Orthopedics, and Allergy & Immunology. The hospital, nursing home and clinics are supported by Outpatient Services that employ state-of-the-art technology, which includes Mammography, Ultrasound, CT Scan, Nuclear Medicine, Esophageal Manometry, and Fluoroscopy. Also available for outpatient utilization is the clinical laboratory, which is equipped to provide most laboratory services ordered by our medical staff. The lab also provides pre-employment drug screening.

The Medical Staff at Chatuge Regional is comprised of several board certified Family Practice Physicians, board certified Internal Medicine Specialists, and cardiologists that are in Towns County on a daily basis. The clinic physicians are also board certified.
