Poteete Creek Park & Campground – a 95 acre facility located on the shores of Lake Nottely.  Beautiful Hardwood trees, fishing, swimming hiking and picnicking make this 59 site campground located 13 miles north of Blairsville a cool haven in the summer.  Operated by the Union County Recreation Department, the campground is open to the public from April 1 thru October 15th.
Suches and Lake Winfield Scott - west off US 129, where GA 180 meets GA 60, the town “Above the Clouds” is home to Woody Gap School, Georgia’s smallest school with a total enrollment of 115 students in 2006 for its grades K-12.  Suches also hosts the Indian Summer Festival the first weekend in October.  Nearby Lake Winfield Scott is part of the Chattahoochee National Forest.  Here you will find the quiet 18 acre lake nestled in the mountains between Suches and Blairsville.  The lake features a roped-off swimming area fronted by about a hundred yards of sandy beach.  The swimming area has a free-standing pier about a hundred feet out. Kids love to swim out and look at the large fish that congregate under the pier to escape the heat of the sun and the fishermen's wiles. Fishing is popular, with an annual Youth Fishing Rodeo. If all the fish are hiding under the pier, stretch your legs by taking the Elizabeth Dee Lawson Morris trail: an easy 1.8 mile walk along the shore. About 30 camping spots stretch back through the woods and a pavilion is available near the lake for families and friends to meet and eat.
	Vogel State Park - one of Georgia’s oldest and most popular state parks.  Vogel offers tent and trailer sites, rental cottages, a 20-acre lake, miniature golf, swimming beach, picnic shelters, pedal boats and 17 miles of hiking trails for the outdoor enthusiast.  Annual special events include the Wildflower Program in April, the Mountain Music Festival in September and the Tree Lighting Ceremony in December.
Meeks Park, a recreation complex, includes picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, baseball/softball fields, a soccer field, tennis courts and a public swimming pool.  A paved scenic walking trail bordering Butternut Creek set Meeks Park apart from similar complexes.  The park includes a designated dog walking trail and a newly added Disc Golf Course.  Meeks Park is home to the Butternut Creek Festival, Blairsville Scottish Festival and Highland Games, Fourth of July fireworks, and many other community activities.
